What is Island Day?
Island Day is Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi’s campus preview program, designed especially for prospective students to get a first-hand look at what it takes to become an Islander. To learn more, please visit our What is Island Day page.

When is Island Day?
Island Day programs take place on designated Saturdays during the Fall and Spring semester.  Programs for this academic year are scheduled for:

Who should attend Island Day?
All prospective undergraduate students are welcome to attend an Island Day program. Island Day is a family event, so all the family is welcome to attend.

How do I register for an Island Day program?

What does it cost to attend Island Day?
The total cost to attend Island Day is $10.00 per participant, which is used to cover a continental breakfast, lunch, and program materials.  After registering for an Island Day program, payment can be made prior to your attendance or upon your arrival at the program you registered for.

How do I submit payment for my Island Day reservation?
After you have registered for the program of your choice, you may a) submit your payment via postage mail to the Office of New Student Programs, or b) pay upon check-in on the day of the program you have registered for.  If submitting payment prior to your attendance, please send your check or money order (made payable to Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi) to:

If paying the day of the program, you may pay by check, money order, or cash.  We do not accept credit card payments. Please note: Once received, our university cannot process any payment refunds for Island Day.  We apologize for the inconvenience.

Can I submit payment for my Island Day reservation via the web?
No, due to stringent security standards upheld by the university, payment for your Island Day reservation can only be submitted by postage mail or in person.

How long does Island Day last?
Island Day is an all-day program, lasting from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.  For specific information on presentations and events, please refer to our Schedule of Events page.

Where can I look at a schedule of events for Island Day?
You may access a tentative schedule of events for Island Day on our Schedule of Events page.  A final schedule of events will be provided to all program participants upon check-in.

Is transportation available to/from Island Day?  Does the university provide overnight accommodations?
Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi is not currently able to provide transportation to and from Island Day, nor are we able to provide overnight accommodations for students and their guests. For your convenience, we have prepared a list of area hotels located in close proximity to the Island University, as well as driving directions from the Corpus Christi International Airport and other locations within the state of Texas.  Please refer to our Travel Accommodations page for more information.

Do I need a special permit to park on campus for Island Day?
No, program participants will not be required to display any special parking permit in order to park on campus for Island Day.  For your walking convenience, we encourage you to seek general parking available in the lots located both next to and adjacent to the University Center (#12 on campus map).

Do I need to register for Island Day to attend?
Though we do prefer you register, it is not required that you register for Island Day to attend.  However, registration prior to attendance does allow our staff the ability to prepare for your arrival and better serve you and your guests during your visit. What if I registered for a program and need to change or re-schedule/cancel my registration?
If you need to make any changes to your current registration, or if you need to cancel your registration entirely, please notify the Office of New Student Programs at nspoffice@tamucc.edu , or by phone at 361.825.6051. Do NOT re-submit your registration, as this will result in processing errors.

I will require additional assistance at Island Day.  How do I make these arrangements?
If you have a disability and require any additional assistance at Island Day, please contact our Services for Students with Disabilities Office by phone at 361.825.5816 to make any necessary service arrangements.  Their staff will communicate with both you and our offices to ensure that your concerns are accommodated during the course of your visit.

How is Island Day different from New Student Orientation?
Island Day is an optional campus preview event for prospective students.  New Student Orientation is a required program for students who have been admitted to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and who have a desire to enroll for classes at the institution.

So, what do I get out of attending Island Day?
Students and guests who attend Island Day get an opportunity to take a campus tour with our Island Ambassadors, learn about the University's top-rated programs, explore their academic interests with our University's outstanding faculty, learn about the various services provided to our students, discover the many ways to get involved at the University, and speak with admissions counselors, financial assistance representatives, and on-campus housing associates. All attendees will also get one of our official Island Day T-shirts... free, just for coming!

I am a high school/college counselor interested in bringing a group of students to Island Day.  How do I go about registering our group to attend?
If your school is interested in bringing a group of prospective students to Island Day, please contact the Office of New Student Programs by phone at 361.825.6051 and a representative will outline the special procedures we have in place for registering school groups to attend one of our Island Day programs.  Please DO NOT have your students register via our online registration system prior to making arrangements with/contacting the Office of New Student Programs, as this could result in group processing errors.

What if I can’t attend an Island Day program?
If you cannot attend one of our scheduled Island Day programs, we highly encourage you to look into scheduling an individual tour of the campus.  For more information on campus tours, click here.
